We measure our rainfall in feet around here

The average rain fall in the Diablo lake vicinity is around 84 inches of rain a year... which equals 7 feet.

How often have you ever lived in a place where you can say with a straight face "we receive on average 7 feet of rain a year." Now, try to imagine how that could relate to snowfall amounts for this winter... they're predicting it to be a La Nina winter, which causes the PNW to have higher rainfall and colder weather. The last time they had a La Nina here at the Learning Center, people were snowed in for 3 weeks before WADOT could plow them out.

I'm glad i have some cross country skis.

  1. Being on the Canadian side of the PNW, I can totaly relate to what you're saying. It is a well established fact that the ski resorts of the PNW dominate the top 20 list of the World's snowiest ski resorts including Whistler, my own ski hill - Mt. Washington on Vancouver Island - and Mt. Baker, which is considered the snowiest place on earth. It's definately going to be an interesting winter - and the temperatures around here have been well below average for months now. Just a matter of time. Take care.
